Wonderful, thank you.

I was unaware of this, and will workout a way of combing the text/images in the most legible way.*

I do know though, that Edward Bourke, the author of this authoratative book, and one of the original divers on the Tayleur wreck, has been after the full text for quite awhile. He will be very happy.

Researchers are still trying to explain some of the design anomalies from the disaster and this book seems to be helping.

But in the past it has been a matter of asking Lloyds Register, or similar, for copies of specific pages, photocopy by photocopy, so a complete, local, PDF will no doubt speed things up for them.

For, modellers, might as well grab this Masting and Rigging book from the same base source too.

For completeness sake, text of this book (although it isn't a top quality scan, I'd say) is available at

John Grantham's Iron Ship Building (5th Ed. 1850's) in PDF form for those interested.

Hi all,

I recently needed to refer to this book and found a copy on Internet Archive.

It was a bit of a hassle to keep going back and forth online, logging-in, logging-out, etc. etc., so I created a PDF copy for my local use, and it turned out OK, so I thought others may be interested.

Its all diagrams, no narrative or explanations, so if you're into fine detail or just want some awesome prints for the shed wall, you won't be disappointed.

Here's a couple of example pages, a link to the Internet Archive and a direct link to this specific book, enjoy.

PDF = 45 pages.

Re: Copyright.
From my experience, extracting portions of copyright works for educational purposes is acceptable.

Internet Archive is a free, publicly available online lending resource.

So, I don't think its an issue.

Anyway, OpenAI, Meta and a few others are a long way ahead of me in the 'stealing stuff from the net' lawsuit game, so...

Update: Grantham's text PDF added (337 pgs). (courtesy of ARL58)
